Thank you, Michael

I rarely repost but now that this film is available on Prime Video, I wanted to revisit this post. When I was a child and even as an adult, I dreamed of being an astronaut. For all the people out there like me now comes a movie, with one of my favorite actors, Michael Pena. I don’t know if it will be a good, bad or mediocre but I am glad they made a film about people that follow their dreams.

In a world where those dreams often remain tethered to the ground, this film soars above, reaching for the stars and taking its audience along for the ride. “A Million Miles Away,” is set to premiere on Prime Video on September 15, 2023, and in select theaters on September 8, is more than a cinematic experience; it’s a tribute to the indomitable human spirit.

A Story Rooted in Reality

Inspired by the real-life story of NASA flight engineer José Hernández, “A Million Miles Away” is a tale of perseverance, family, and the pursuit of seemingly impossible dreams. From the rural village of Michoacán, Mexico, to the fields of the San Joaquin Valley, and finally to the International Space Station, the film follows José and his family of proud migrant farm workers on a decades-long journey.

Directed by Alejandra Márquez Abella and featuring a talented cast besides the aforementioned Peña it includes Rosa Salazar, and Bobby Soto, the film is based on the book “Reaching for the Stars: The Inspiring Story of a Migrant Farmworker Turned Astronaut” by José Hernández.

A Tribute to Dreamers

What sets “A Million Miles Away” apart is its dazzling tribute to the loyalty and tenacity of the entire Hernández family, as well as anyone who dares to dream. José’s unrelenting drive and determination, supported by his hard-working parents, relatives, and teachers, culminate in the opportunity to achieve his seemingly impossible goal.

The film’s narrative resonates with dreamers of all ages, backgrounds, and aspirations. Whether it’s a child gazing at the night sky or an adult still nurturing a childhood dream, “A Million Miles Away” speaks to the heart of human ambition.

In a time when the world needs inspiration, “A Million Miles Away” promises to be a beacon of hope and a testament to the power of dreams. It’s not just a film about an astronaut; it’s a film about all of us who reach for something greater, something beyond our grasp, something a million miles away.

As we await the film’s release, we are reminded that the journey to our dreams, no matter how distant, begins with a single step. And as José Hernández’s story shows, with unwavering support and relentless determination, even the stars are within reach.
