There are moments in a long project when it is worth pausing to look around and take stock of who is still standing with you. This is one of those moments. With this note, we also close Season 2 of “What Still Works in America.”
The idea behind the series has remained simple. The country is full of noise, conflict, and systems that feel like they are fraying at the edges. Yet beneath all of that, there are institutions, habits, and quiet mechanisms that continue to function. Week after week, you showed up to explore those with me. That matters more than I can easily put into words.
Your attention is not a small thing. It is the most valuable currency in a crowded world, and you chose to spend some of it here. Each read, each reflection, each quiet moment of agreement or disagreement helped shape what this newsletter has become.
As a small gesture of appreciation, I want to give something back. From tomorrow through April 7th, What Still Works in America will be available for free in Kindle format. The paperback edition remains available for those who prefer a physical copy.
If you have been reading along and want the full collection in one place, this is a chance to have it. If you already have it, consider sharing the link with someone who might find value in it. Work like this is never a solo effort, even when it looks that way on the surface. Every system that still works does so because people continue to participate in it, support it, and believe that it is worth maintaining. You are part of that.
Thank you for reading. Thank you for thinking. Thank you for continuing to believe that some things are still worth building, protecting, and understanding.
