2023 in movies, music and television

Hey there, it’s Cary. Today, let’s dive off topic into some music, shows, and movies I enjoyed enough to want to make sure to share. a realm where I find solace, inspiration, and a good dose of humor.

Most Played Music

BoyGenius – You can not ignore the creative force and professional execution when the entire entertainment industry gets behind musical act and while it was Taylor Swift everywhere all the time, below the surface percolating was BoyGenius with The Record that will likely be the album of the year and their live performances are far superior.

Antonio Carlos Jobim – Antonio Carlos Jobim, the bossa nova virtuoso, weaves a musical tapestry that transports me to the sun-soaked beaches of Brazil. Each note is a sigh of contentment.

Samantha Fish – Samantha Fish, the blues-rock sensation, knows how to make her guitar cry and sing in the same breath. Her music resonates deep within, making me groove to her electrifying tunes.

Bill Evans, Keith Jarrett, and Miles – Jazz has a special place in my heart, and these legends – Bill Evans, Keith Jarrett, and Miles Davis – are the torchbearers of that genre. Their compositions are timeless, like old friends you never tire of.

Yo-Yo Ma – Yo-Yo Ma’s cello speaks a language that transcends words. It tells stories of longing, joy, and hope, and I’m always eager to listen.

Andy McKee – Andy McKee’s acoustic guitar virtuosity is nothing short of mesmerizing. His fingerstyle playing takes me on a journey where every pluck and strum is a revelation.

Most Watched Shows

Ted Lasso – Ted Lasso, a beacon of optimism in a sometimes gloomy world. I appreciate its dry humor and its ability to turn skeptics into believers. It’s a lesson in the power of positivity.

Slo Pitch, Mythic Quest, and Archer – My taste in TV shows is as diverse as my interests. From the offbeat humor of “Archer” to the chaotic creativity of “Mythic Quest,” I find joy in the unconventional.

SNL – Saturday Night Live, the evergreen source of laughter and sharp social commentary. It’s a weekly reminder that humor can be a powerful tool for understanding our world.

Only Murders In The Building – A delightful blend of mystery and humor, this show keeps me hooked as I follow Selena Gomez, Steve Martin and Martin Short’s quirky amateur sleuthing adventures.

Show of the Year: Ted Lasso (yes it feels last year but it was 2023 for the closing episodes of Jason Sudeikis’ Magnum Opus and to be the champ you have to beat the champ)
