A Journey of Advocacy

Most of the feedback I have received since starting the blog centers around why. What kind of job is this? In this article, I explore the motivations behind maintaining a blog, drawing from the content of my own site. I’ve found that my blog serves as a platform for advocacy, sharing expertise, community building, personal growth, leadership, documentation of experiences, promoting dialogue, and supporting causes.

In the digital age, blogging has emerged as a powerful medium for communication, allowing individuals like myself to share thoughts, ideas, and experiences with a global audience. While some authors monetize their platforms, I’ve chosen to maintain an unsponsored publication. This post delves into the reasons behind this choice.

Advocacy and Awareness:

One of the primary motivations behind my writing is the opportunity it presents for advocacy and awareness. My platform covers a broad spectrum of topics, ranging from public policy to health, technology, and innovation. Each post serves as a platform to raise awareness and advocate for pertinent issues. For instance, I highlighted Arizona’s landmark move to allow over-the-counter contraceptives to underscore the importance of reproductive freedom.

Sharing Expertise and Insights:

Digital publishing also provides a method for sharing expertise and insights. I use my blog to share informed perspectives on various topics, such as the impact of artificial intelligence on academia, thereby contributing to the broader discourse on these subjects.

Community Building, Personal Growth and Development:

Blogging has contributed to my personal growth and development. The process of writing and organizing thoughts for a post has enabled me to keep my writing skills honed and deepened my understanding of the topics I write about and has also fostered a sense of community among my readers who share similar interests. Writing has long served as a platform for influence and leadership. In a post titled “The Art of Leadership: A Study of Artists as Catalysts for Change in the Face of Technological Disruption”, I aimed to inspire and motivate readers to take action.

Sometimes, I just want to share experiences and stories and a blog serves as a record of my experiences, thoughts, and stories. But at its best this platform promotes discussion and dialog about the causes I care about and perhaps move the needle a bit on some things that are not so easy to talk about until you distill them down to their basic structure of addressing human need. It is and will continue to be a way to help. Be blessed and take care of each other.
